The Hype:

Three guys go out for lunch. They pay. Yet each time they count their change, there is a missing dollar bill. So, they try it again. Another dollar is found missing. Each time they count the total dollars, one always goes missing.

Nick Einhorn (winner of Penn & Teller: Fool Us) breathes life into a classic riddle that you have to see to believe. Count the dollars, one is missing. Count again, there goes another.

It's a smashingly fun puzzle that you will show at dinner parties and gatherings, where they will scratch their heads in disbelief. Open and honest deception has never been so much fun.

Inspired by Daryl's original routine 'A Puzzling Bill Vanish' and released with his blessing.

My Take:

This is Nick's take on a classic puzzle that makes it much more entertaining. Since it is in the public domain, I won't be exposing anything by giving you the puzzle just in case you haven't seen it before.

Three men entered a motel looking for a room. The clerk said that they had one room left and it was $30.00. So the men decided to split it and each gave the clerk $10.00. The clerk found that he had made an error and the price was only $25.00 so he took the $5.00 up to the room. Each man took a dollar back and gave the remaining $2.00 to the clerk for a tip. So here's the question. If each man paid $10.00 and got $1.00 back, that means each one paid $9.00. $9.00 times 3 equals $27.00 plus the $2.00 given to the clerk equals a total of $29.00. What happened to the other dollar?

Nick is one smart guy. I saw him years ago on Cape Cod where he fooled me badly with his "Spooked", haunted deck routine. You also probably have some of his beautiful magic books on your shelf which (good for you, bad for Nick) have been remaindered in the $5.00-$10.00 range. He decided to work out the puzzle using real bills. An the end of the first phase, he only has $29.00 and explains he loses a dollar every time he does the trick. He removes another dollar from his wallet and goes through the situation again and loses another dollar. He offers an alternate ending After he loses the first dollar, he opens his wallet and two bills are seen. He takes one out, goes through the procedure again showing another bill has been lost, then opens his wallet to show the bill has returned.

Nick was inspired by a routine he saw Daryl do one time. He has eliminated the false counts that Daryl used and has created a gimmick that does the work for you. He goes through detailed instructions on how to create the gimmick. This is well worth making up and carrying with you for whenever you just might need to do a trick.

Conclusion: Brilliant work from a very creative guy and at only $7.95 for the download, this needs to be in your arsenal.
