The Hype:

When two creative minds come together and create magic, you know that the end result will be something special.

Outnumbered is a simple "blind" puzzle solve that will leave your audience amazed!!

Rubik's Cube magic, magic squares, and memory feats are some of the most compelling, believable, and awe-inspiring weapons in the modern magician's arsenal. Outnumbered takes all three of those effects and combines them into one pocket-sized, easy-to-perform miracle!!!

An instantly recognizable number puzzle game is handed to a spectator to mix up. The magician then "memorizes" the position of the numbers and turns the puzzle face down as he attempts to solve it without looking. Despite there being almost 20 trillion different combinations, the magician is able to solve the puzzle.

Outnumbered can be "solved" in three different ways. A regular 1-16 solve, a magic square solve, or a seemingly random solve that has already been predicted.

Outnumbered requires no memory work, no need for complicated algorithms, and no skill to perform. The spectator can even perform the solves themselves!

Outnumbered is a custom-made gimmick that does all the work for you and can be handled by the spectator before and after the solve.

Leave your memory and mathematical skills at the door. THIS IS OUTNUMBERED by Danny Weiser and Matthew Wright!!

My Take:

I am sure that every one of you is familiar with the 15 puzzle and so is your audience. Sam Loyd for years claimed he had invented it while the actual inventor was a postmaster named Noyes Chapman of Canastota, New York in 1880. There was huge craze for solving it for around 6\six months in 1880. It actually became a mania.

Outnumbered offers three solutions to this puzzle. One, the tiles are arranged in numerical order (1-15) , two, the numbers will form a magic square totaling 34. The second solution is the original format. You were given 16 tiles to arrange into a magic square. The sliding number version of the puzzle came later and was known as the 14-15 puzzle as the 14 and 15 tiles places were reversed crating an insolvable puzzle. A huge prize (for the time) was offered for a correct solution. This was never claimed. The last solution allows you to show what appears to be a failure but your prediction is revealed showing the same random configuration.

Danny and Matthew have come up with a very clever version of the puzzle. I love this as I really enjoy a trick I can toss into my pocket and be ready to perform a killer trick at a moment's notice. Instruction is via two videos with one giving basic instructions and the other including a performance video. You are given two gimmicks in the box. One forces the number 34. The other can be set up to force whatever number you wish. A 1-15 gimmick is built into the case..

Can the gimmick be inspected? I would say before it is done, yes. After, not so much, but at a short distance, the illusion is perfect. The gimmick is well made and should last a long, long time. The boys took their time in designing the construction and you will be very happy with it.

The instructions show that a fairly easy move is required to do the effect in the open. I have found that it is just as much of a fooler if you and your spectator both move the tiles behind your back or under a table. It will, however, be that much more convincing if you can do the move effectively and silently.

Conclusion: I like it! The price might be a little high for some but this is a trick you can carry with you and it should last almost forever. You are given a second set of stickers you can use to either set up your own configuration or as a replacement if the original shows wear or becomes dirty. If you buy this, you will use it. Highly recommended.
