My Take: Like pretty much all of you, I grew up playing with those wire puzzles and becoming very frustrated because a lot of them I just couldn't get. Some were quite complex and took a long time even if you knew the method. One of the simpler ones was the ring and spring. You might have gotten one in your first magic kit. You might even have used it to fool your buddies and started you on the road to perdition of becoming a real magician. The props are simple. A metal spring and a metal ring. Both look standard like they could be purchased in a hardware store. These are ungaffed and can be examined minutely by anyone who wishes. This also means that the props will last you a whole lifetime. I have seen that claim before and had the trick fall apart on me after a few uses. No problem with that here. These are built to last. You will never need to buy them again. Instruction is via a 53 minute video starring Javier Fuenmayor. He seems to have become the face of Murphy's to the public. I think they made a good choice. He does not talk down to you. He comes across as genuine and very friendly. But best of all, he knows his stuff and how to teach the routines. The video starts with three performances (which you will probably watch more than once.) With very little work, he gets huge responses. When he goes into the teaching he takes it slow to make sure you do get it and the photography is sharp and clear. The mechanics of this trick are quite simple. You might even has used something similar with the small ring and spring from your youth. The ad copy says the method can be learned in minutes and mastered in hours. I suggest that you do take the hours. You will want to get this as smooth and quiet as you can. I can see this as being excellent for either street or strolling magic. There is no reset. You can carry this in a pocket (although I would suggest you carry it linked to avoid the pieces being separated). I have always enjoyed magic tricks that last. I loved the little bronze boxes and tricks you used to see in every magic shop's display case. They looked nice and could take a beating. This will too but I am sure you want to take good care of it. Kudos to Joonas Mengel for coming up with this and Murphy's and Javier for bringing it to us. So, yep. This is a keeper and is recommended.
