Your spectator THINKS of a card. You hand them a sharpie to write down what they are thinking of...but to their surprise, the sharpie doesn't actually work. You take the sharpie from the spectator, and WITHOUT ANY MOVES, and while keeping the Sharpie IN VIEW THE ENTIRE TIME...you open it up to REVEAL a card rolled up inside. The spectator still HAS NOT SAID, OR EVEN written down their card. Then the spectator is asked to name their card. With NO switches or moves of ANY kind, the card is turned over and is the EXACT card the spectator named - EVERY TIME! NO card switches or sharpie switches! The gimmick is designed for easy use with a super practical method and ability to keep the gimmick on you wherever you go so you're ready to blow some minds at a moment's notice. My Take: Before I get into the review, I have to say something about Abstract Effects customer service. When I got my Summit, one piece was missing and another did not function properly. I emailed them and got an answer within an hour from Maxwell (on a Sunday, no less) asking for my address so a replacement could be promptly sent out. I have heard so many horror stories online about companies offering poor or no customer service. They should learn a lesson from these guys. Most impressive. What you get in the package is a gimmicked Sharpie, 6 custom printed cards and six gimmicks in a pocket index. When I watched the video, I immediately thought that the Sharpie was pre-loaded and the card was forced. But not so. Your spectator can name any one of the 12 face cards and when the pen is opened, that exact card and no other is inside the pen. There are no forces and this effect is very easy to perform. The same card can be replaced into the index and used over and over. The initial setup will take a few minutes but is not difficult. As I said earlier, my original was missing one of the gimmicks so I could not let my spectator name any of the face cards. Instead, to get a feel for this, I pre-loaded any card and forced the duplicate from a deck. Although I know it will be even more impressive with the whole setup, my improvised version absolutely killed. (You can always tell just how much impact you have by how much swearing takes place. Suffice it to say, I am glad this performance was not at a church or a Blue and Gold banquet.) My replacement package arrived with everything intact and the gimmick working like a charm. This is a powerful piece of magic. The only downside is that it would be hard to do as a walkaround as the reset is easy but takes a moment. I have been reviewing products for the Other Brothers for quite a while (pre-Abstract Effects) and have always found them to be clever, fun and foolers. Obviously some are better than others and this fits that bill. This is a well made trick that should last you a very long time. Judging just from the response I got when working with one that was less than ideal puts this one right into my pocket. Recommended. And thanks for the great service. |
