My Take:

First of all, let me preface this review by saying I hate Liam Montier. He has taken the tired old clock trick that always bored me to tears and made me fall in love with it. Liam admits himself in the booklet that the clock trick is not exciting but he has a knack in taking the mundane and making it amazing.

You get the special cards needed for the trick, two envelopes with stickers listing the Zodiac signs on each, a special prediction card and a link to download the instructional video. The set up takes only seconds once you know what to do and the payoff is huge. In fact, there are multiple payoffs. This trick reminds me of the old TV ads that showed the product than said “Wait, but that’s not all!”, then proceeds to do it again. When this trick is over, you can almost hear the announcer saying “Telephone operators are standing by for your call.”

I wasn’t crazy about the looks of the prediction card I received but that is no problem. You can use any card from any deck. If you have a really snazzy looking card you want to use for the prediction, go ahead. It will work. If you are doing a corporate job, use a card with the company logo on the face. The working on this is simple and easy to modify. The only problem I see is maybe a table is needed to do the layout if you are doing walk around (which might also be a problem for a street magician).

Even in our enlightened times, horoscope magazines are still big sellers and most local newspaper carry a daily horoscope. So, even if your audience doesn’t buy horoscopes, this will get them and have them talking.

One thing I like about Liam is his ability to take a simple self-working trick, toss in a few extras and give you something brand new. A real case of “standing on the shoulders of giants.”)

Conclusion: This is one of my favorite new effects. When I saw it was based on the clock trick, I almost passed it by. That would have been a huge mistake. This has my highest recommendation. But don’t get me wrong. I still hate Liam. How could I not hate a guy that forced me to love such a dusty old trick from almost every card magic book that has ever been written? So, Liam, if you see me come into a pub where you are tipping a few, run. Because I am coming for you.
