Angels and Demons deck – Dead Rebel Magic $43.23 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134835408617?hash=item1f64d10ee9:g:LPIAAOSwmI9lGS0W
The Hype:
Dead Rebel Magic is back with a new and dark take on the classic Out Of This World!
Simon teaches you the classic 'Out of This World' card effect, where a spectator deals a deck into piles and somehow separates the reds from the blacks... but things are a bit different. Angels and Demons includes a specially printed, full pack of picture cards - 26 heavenly angels, and 26 demonic devils. The art is spectacular, the cards great quality, and the storage tin (with a clever ambigram that reads 'Angels and Demons' either way up) make it a practical piece of bizarre magic / mentalism.
The cards can also be used most (if not all) variations of Out Of This World, and other routines will occur too - perhaps a 'cutting the Aces' where the spectator chooses the only four Angels from a packet of Devils, or an Oil and Water where the Angels 'Rise Above' and the Demons are 'Down Below'...
Only available in very limited numbers
My Take:
Joshua Jay says “Out of This World” is the greatest trick of all time and it certainly has had staying power over the years. Paul Curry's work of genius. And it does pack a powerful punch. However, (and I could be the only one), the trick never intrigued me. Maybe the counting or the fact that the deck cannot be spread turned me off, so I know how to do it. I just haven't.
This new deck from Dead Rebel has changed my way of thinking. This deck is a real treat for the eyes and your spectators will be fascinated by it. This deck can be spread loosely on the table face up and no one should notice anything. Unlike using a regular deck, there are no colors or values to give the method away. The cards are done in a brown tint with several shades but most of the cards are about the same shade so when they are spread, there is no hint that the cards are not mixed.
I have always been a big fan of Oil and Water and the ad copy says this would be perfect for it. I plan on doing Out of the World then removing eight cards and doing my Oil and Water routine. Brilliant idea and it is not only very visual it will allow you to stretch the length of the routine.
I have a tendency to carry decks of cards in my pockets and in no time at all, the boxes look trashed. The packaging on this is a big bonus for me. An attractive black metal case that should keep your deck looking like new.
The Angels and Demons theme gives you plenty of latitude in coming up with a story to go with your routine. If you have any imagination at all, This could become the centerpiece of your set. And the thing that really sells it for me (besides being self working) is that you can hand the cards out after to be examined. A regular deck might make the examination last only a minute but I guarantee people will want to take the time to look at each and every card (also stretching the routine way out).
There is nothing original in the routine and this is readily admitted but the cards themselves bring a familiar trick to a whole new level.
This will be a little more expensive than your standard deck but I doubt that you will ever regret your purchase. Highly recommended.
