The Hype:

Colour Heckler is that rarity amongst card magic effects - a genuinely funny trick! It’s super engaging, has lots of phases and is the perfect ‘gather round and check this out’ type of routine!

You offer to demonstrate a ‘classic’ of magic, and remove three red cards and three black cards from the deck. Yet when you re-count them out it seems an extra black card was accidentally added. You chuck it away. But when you recount this time an extra red card shows. Arghhh!

Then it keeps happening. Multiple times. And then things get REALLY crazy!

Watch Toby perform this fun routine and you’ll see what we mean!

Like the classic street hustle ‘Six Card Repeat’ this routine builds and builds with the increasingly impossible appearance of extra cards in each phase. But Toby’s routine has a lovely dynamic arc as just when your audience get used to an extra card appearing it jumps to LOADS of cards.

And if you want to perform a turbo-charged version, you can also learn COLOUR HECKLER GONE WILD - an even crazier routine that starts the same but ends with the entire deck appearing, and all the cards being from other decks

My Take:

There have been tons of versions of Six Card Repeat, all the way from Fred Kaps to Joshua Jay. So here we have another one with an added kicker. Obviously, extra cards must be brought into play and Toby gives you a nice way to do just that. Maybe a little angly but you are taught how to handle the cards to cover that up. The really nice thing about Toby’s handling is that no pocket cards are made and used. In fact, everything can be examined at the end.

The real prize here though is the second routine. You will need a special deck for this one but it is quite possibly that you already own it or, if not, it is readily available one or at your local magic shop. (Are there still some of those around?) This is basically a hyper version of the first routine. When the extra cards are revealed at the end, a slew of different backs are revealed resulting in some serious eye candy.

There are no knucklebusting sleights involved. These routines are able to be done by each and every one of you with out hours of practice. (Although it will require some practice time. Just not as much as you would expect)

And the best thing about it is the price. $5.50? Are you kidding me? That is less than the cost of one magic magazine. As a matter of fact, this is really the only complaint I would have for Toby’s routine. It’s way too cheap. We’ve all seen tons of tricks that are not as good as this but sell for much more. Buy this before Big Blind wakes up and realize what a huge mistake they have made.

Obviously, recommended.
