The Hype:

A classic routine gets an eerie and bizarre twist, in classic Dead Rebel Productions style!
You tell the tale of Alexander Hart, a man who pursued the occult, and took photos of strange apparitions.

Years later, a relative of his has a strange experience drinking some ceremonial 'tea' in South America, and is visited by an apparition who reminds him of Alexander.

Impossibly, it is EXACTLY the one that your spectator chose at random from a group of photos...

As always, Simon from Dead Rebel has produced some AMAZING and handcrafted props and packaging, and this is his most commercial trick yet - easy to carry, no reset and no moves or sleight of hand, and no forces.

There are also a variety of presentational ideas - perhaps the story above, or perhaps a story about how Alexander Hart was an early experimenter of psychedelics, and after a bad trip, was visited by a spirit...

My Take:

Another winner from Dead Rebel. Beautifully designed and printed. Packaging has the standard vintage Dead Rebel look. Artwork is superb. The ghost cards are very creepy and it you can spin a good yard, this will be right up your alley. If not, it is easy enough for a beginner but a properly set up story will add lots of atmosphere to your performance. This would be killer if you do a seance act.

The cards that you receive are heavily gaffed and work easily. This is a trick even a beginner (with some sense of showmanship) would be able to perform. The illustrations are first rate and real eye catchers. There is almost no work involved in doing this and it is almost 100% presentation.

I have always been a big Edgar Allen Poe fan. I read the stories and saw the movies growing up. Never missed Vincent Price movie. Vincent would have been right at home in this story.

Simon’s signature on each of his tricks places on a timeline in the late 1800‘s. There is no end to ghost stories from that time and spiritualism was hugel So there is a ton of usable material besides the suggestions you are given in the packaging. It truly amazes me the power such a simple and easy to perform trick has. Plus the cards come in a vintage era appropriate box that is the perfect size to fit into your pocket.

The routine is taught by Liam Montier who has become one of the better teachers online. The instructions are delivered via a 13 minute video shot professionally as always from this company. The opening sequence brings to mind a documentary from the History Channel and the narrator also brings a very creepy feel to the story.

To make it easier, you are given a background story that you can download in pdf and print out. One nice touch here. You have your choice of two versions (both with the same material). One with a look of being old (discolored aged paper) and one just on white paper. If you can locate some old paper for the printing this would make an excellent addition to the effect.

In the story line, David Jago drinks some tea that he brought back from the Amazon which had been used for religious ceremonies. The tea caused him to have severe hallucinations. This is not a fictional drink dreamed up by Dead Rebel. The Amazon natives did indeed make and drtink this beverage called Ayahuasca. This beverage is still used today in the Amazon. However, it is illegal in the United States. It helps when you are weaving a tale to have some facts to back you up.

I love Dead Rebel products and am proud to have this one in my arsenal. This one will be traveling in my pocket for an extended period of time. Thank you, Simon, for giving me the opportunity to review this great trick. Obviously, this is highly recommended,
