John Bannon - Bandwidth series

Let's face it. John Bannon is a god in the card world. He has created simply piles of devastating card tricks that are either self working or easy to do. In this new series (two effects so far), he has, once again, proved himself. Since both effects are from the same series, we will review the two of them together.

Both are perfect for virtual performances. Once can even be done with any number of viewers. And, get this, each can be had at the modest price of $9.99

First up is Bandwidth Zoombaya

The Hype:

‘Zoombaya’ is the first of a series of releases from John Bannon featuring virtual, internet-friendly stunners you’ll also want to do live, up-close and personal. This incredible routine allows you to determine which of eight random cards your participant is thinking of, all whilst turned away, or on videoconference, over the internet or even over the phone. And you never see or touch the cards!

otally self working. Totally impossible!

No angles, no gimmicks, no sleights, no off-camera shenanigans

A remote miracle where you never touch or see the cards

The eight cards can be from a borrowed deck

No elaborate pre-trick nonsense, start immediately from a shuffled deck

Works over video call / phone call / in person / on stage!

Perform from the other side of the world

My Take:

This is a killer. John lets you know up front that it is not 100% but very near to it. I tried it numerous times and it came out perfect each time for me. The video will explain.

Your spectator can choose any eight cards he wants. John suggests using something other than playing cards to add a new dimension. Say, eight postcards from anywhere in the world. He can choose the location he would like to visit and you can tell him which one it is. Or, if you are at a business meeting it will be maybe even more effective to use business cards.

Absolutely no sleights or pre-arrangement (which would be difficult anyway in a virtual performance. ) You never even get to see the cards and you can name his selection.

Powerful, powerful piece.

Now on to Bandwidth - No No No No No No No Maybe Yes

https://bigblindmedia.com/products/bandwidth-no-no-no-no-no-no-no-maybe-yes-by-john-bannon?variant=39424013762609

The Hype:

‘No No No No No No No Maybe Yes’ is the second release in John Bannon’s killer new series of self-working yet jawdropping card routines. This BBM exclusive video download will absolutely floor people in person, and because you never touch the cards once it also slays over video chat!

So, what’s ‘No No No No No No No Maybe Yes’ all about?

From a borrowed, shuffled deck in use, your spectator peeks a card at a freely-chosen number.

They “burn” a random and unknown number of cards into the center of the deck.

Now the spectator cuts & mixes the deck

Remember - you don’t know their card. You don’t know their number. AND you’ve never seen or even touched the cards!

Now you ask the spectator to call out the names of the cards from the top of the deck -and impossibly you nail the chosen card. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!

My Take::

For a trick with such a silly sounding name, this is absolutely my favorite of the two. It turns out that the name of the trick is very instrumental in performing it. Once again, you don't touch or see the cards and yet the selection is revealed perfectly every time.

I love this routine. I have sat at my table and done it over and over again and each time I am stunned when the card comes up. I know it is a mathematical trick but John has buried the secret behind a procedure that your spectator handles himself.

John has included a use of a multiple Balducci cut that is not used as a force but as a revelation. This is extremely hard to follow even for a magician familiar with the original usage. Great procedure and it is right out in front of the audience's face. Doesn't matter how close it is watched. They just won't get it.

You might have guessed that I am a huge Bannon fan. Killer magic with no work or almost no work. So many of us want to buy a trick today and add it to your show tonight. A lot of tricks claim this property but seldom deliver. No so here. Easy to do and learn  and absolutely devastating in their impact (plus you can use it tonight.)

I personally have added No No No No No No No Maybe Yes and really have a blast doing it for myself and watching how it comes out. Don't know how the math works here but who cares?

What do you usually spend on a download and how good is it? Does it deliver as promised? I have never been disappointed in a release from John yet so it was no surprise how good both effects are. So buy one or buy both (my recommendation) and have a fun afternoon playing with these. You will fool your self. Needless to say (but I will anyway), these are both highly recommended.
