The Hype:

The Ultimate Changeling.

The ability to switch any bill, of any size, color, denomination, or material in the spectator's hand was set by the Original Changeling.

Changeling ODO is leaps ahead of what was laid out before. Not only do all the fantastic traits of the original still stand strong, but now you have the ability to execute TWO visual changes. Oh! You can hand the final bill out without a switch as well. AND it is all contained in ONE space-saving gimmick, giving you more flexibility as to which bills you borrow from your spectator while performing!

Need anything else?

Did we mention that this gimmick now locks? Well it does! This means you can handle the bill more freely than before and be in total control of when you want to do a change!

There are dozens of ways the gimmick can be handled, from the highly visual, to misdirected changes, to suit all styles of performers.

As with the original, this is truly a gimmick you will want to carry with you everywhere!

BONUS: Want a bonus? Who doesn't?! How about a copy of the original Changeling video as part of this project? Sure - we're nice like that. If you are one of the few who doesn't have the original, you can learn Marc's original routines and adapt them to the new gimmick. Or you could build an original Changeling gimmick to use in conjunction with ODO and create your own routines! If you DO have the original, then that's fine, it never hurts to have a refresher course!

All currencies can be used. Bills of any color, size, material work.

As an added bonus, Marc generously shares an accompanying ODO accessory that can allow ODO users to easily and visually complete up to SEVEN changes before handing out the final note for examination.

My Take:

One of the big trends in the last couple of years has been to release make it yourself tricks. This is another one of them. There are two schools of thought on this. First, some people absolutely hate this. They buy a trick, they want to be able to use it right away. The other reflects my attitude. I have bought tricks that either wore out or broke and had to either rebuy them or relegate them to my magic junk drawer. With this, you can not only repair a worn or damaged gimmick but actually start from scratch and make yourself a brand new one.

What you get in the box is that special something that makes the trick work and a link to download three videos. I have seen Axel Hecklau use similar thought with one of his routines.

Let’s take a look at the videos.

The first is Mark’s latest handling of Changeling. In the previous version, two gimmicks were required. He has tightened this up to require only one need be made. Most of the video is instructions to make the gimmick. The video is shot with close-ups to make it easier. The instructions are pain-stakingly detailed and the angles cover it completely. I have had too many either gloss over what I need to know or have camera angles that hide what is being done. That is not a problem here. It takes Mark approximately 40 minutes to construct his gimmick on screen. Since he is experienced at making them. Plan on longer for your project. Other gimmicks I have built quite often don’t work properly and have to be remade. Follow the instructions accurately and this will work first time. It will require some additional items that you most likely already have.(Bills, Exacto knife, glue, etc.) The one downside to this is that you have to destroy three bills of different denominations to construct. If you use a one, a five and a ten, this is going to cost you sixteen dollars. If you substitute a two dollar bill, you can get by for eight dollars.  The routine is taught with British bills but can easily be adapted for American currency (or any paper currency for that matter). You are taught two methods of construction The first allows you to steal the gimmick and end clean. The second leaves you dirty but it can be carried in your wallet for use anytime. A history of the effect is also given.

The second video is the original release of Changeling and actually contains the routines you will use the gimmick for. Since this is the complete previous release, it contains the construction of the gimmick, too. However, the instruction is much superior on the fist video. There are three routines taught.

Note Possible – a borrowed bill is signed and made to go through two changes increasing in value each time. The original signed bill is then pulled from the performer’s wallet. One thing the gimmick does that makes this such a strong routine is you can place the gimmick into the spectator’s hand where it is seen to be one value. The spectator closes his hand and when he opens it, the bill is found to have changed to another value right in his had. Very visual. This will get a few gasps.

Bill Monte , Two bills are placed in the spectator’s hand and one is removed. When the spectator guesses, he is wrong. He then sees a bill visibly put into his hand, makes his guess and find s a different bill when his hand is opened.

2 Bill Transpo – Bill is placed into a glass where it can be seen to be one value. He spectator puts his hands over each end of the glass, shakes to glass and the bill instantly changes to another value.

The third video is very short but gives you some additional things to consider. A routine is shown where a bill-sized piece of paper is first changed to a small calendar then to three different denominations of bills one at t time. Using this method also allows you to do more than three changes making it quite customizable.

There have been a lot of magicians that come up with a clever idea then rush it to the market way before it is ready to go. Mark took his time on this. It is superbly taught, very visual and easy to do. It will take some time to construct but once done, you will be set. This is great for walk around and will slay your audience. I absolutely love the thinking and construction of this. Highly recommended.
